Mining and gathering

Almost everything you can craft starts with raw materials you gather. It is the slowest part of the game, but also the most reliable.

What is it?

There are eight gathering activities: Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing, Hunting, Mushroom Picking, Berry Picking, Garden and Worm Gathering. You’ll find seven of them in the “Crafts” section. Worm Gathering is in the Forest (the “World” section → “Forest”), and there is also a link to it on the Fishing page.

You choose a spot and press one button. Most of the time you get raw materials, skill experience and XP. In Hunting, and at some fishing spots, you sometimes come back empty-handed, and the arrow or bait you used is not returned. Collecting water doesn’t raise your skill.

  • Woodcutting – wood.
  • Mining – ores and stones.
  • Fishing – fish; this is also where you collect water.
  • Hunting – meat.
  • Mushroom Picking and Berry Picking – mushrooms and berries.
  • Worm Gathering – bait for fishing.

What you need to gather

Some spots need a tool: an axe for trees, a pickaxe for ore, a bow for hunting, a fishing rod for fish. Some also use up supplies: an arrow for every shot when hunting, and bait when fishing in the river.

Mushrooms, berries and worms need nothing – they are the easiest place to start. Every spot also has its own skill level you need before you can gather there.

What changes as your skill grows

The higher your skill, the more gathering spots open up to you and the better the finds you can get. At first, some rarer finds at the same spot are still out of reach. Once your skill reaches their level, they start to turn up.

When you mine ore, you can sometimes also find an uncut gem. Equipped gear and crafting elixirs raise your skill for a while.

Pace, Auto and Offline Training

You have to wait a few seconds between actions – the same for all regular activities. Between boss attacks the wait is longer. You can also gather automatically: “Start Auto” repeats the chosen action for you. Each day you get a limited number of free automatic actions, and the limit goes up once you have played longer.

When you leave, you can start Offline Training. When you come back, you get the same actions under the same rules: you need the same tools, bait and inventory space. The free duration grows with your level, your manual actions and your account’s age, up to a few hours. That is the longest a single training session can last: unused time doesn’t build up and isn’t added the next day.

  • Auto never skips the wait between actions.
  • A full inventory stops Auto.
  • Any action you take yourself stops Offline Training.

Where raw materials go

Wood, ores, stones, fish, meat, mushrooms, berries and water go into production: Cooking, Smithing, Crafting, Jewelcrafting and Alchemy. Bricks and granite are needed for your House extension.

You can sell your surplus to a shop or to other players on the Market.
