What is it?
You choose an enemy and press “Attack”. The game works out the whole fight at once and shows you the result. If you win, you get XP, coins and loot. The mastery of your combat style grows too.
Fights don’t happen on their own: every attack is a separate fight with a real result. With Auto switched on, the game can repeat those attacks for you.
No classes – your weapon sets the style
There are three combat styles: Melee, Ranged and Magic. The weapon in your hands decides which one you use: a sword means Melee, a bow means Ranged, a staff means Magic. Change your weapon and you change your style. You need no permission and pay no fee for it.
Ranged and Magic get through part of the enemy’s Defense, but every hit needs an arrow or Magic Dust. You buy them in a shop for coins. Melee uses nothing.
- Melee: uses up nothing.
- Ranged: every shot needs one arrow.
- Magic: every hit needs Magic Dust.
- Without arrows or dust, the fight doesn’t start. If they run out in the middle of a fight, the fight is stopped and you get no reward. Arrows, dust and Mana already used, and Hitpoints already lost, are not given back.
What unlocks weapons and armor
Armor needs a Defense skill level. Weapons need mastery in their style. Strength makes your hits stronger, but it unlocks nothing.
Your character level doesn’t unlock gear either. Your level raises your maximum Mana and matters in other systems – for example, for some missions, pets, Offline Training and your Auto limit.
Mastery and combat skills
Each style has its own mastery. It grows only from real wins against a strong enough enemy. The combat simulator, the PvP arena and bosses give no mastery.
Combat skills are special attacks. They trigger with a certain chance and cost Mana. A normal attack never costs Mana. Your maximum Mana equals your level, so you have little of it at the start – that’s normal.
What happens when you lose
When your Hitpoints run out, the fight ends. If you lose, you get no XP, coins, loot or mastery. You don’t lose items or coins – only the arrows or dust you already used are gone.
But your Hitpoints stay at zero. Until you eat or rest in the Bed in your House, you can’t start another fight. Food restores Hitpoints, and a Mana elixir restores Mana. That’s why food is part of getting ready, not a small detail.
Where to start
Start with the weakest enemies. Pick one style and stick with it until your mastery unlocks your first real weapon.
You start with 10 Strength, 10 Defense and 10 Hitpoints. Every level gives you 2 Progress Points (PP). One PP adds one point to Strength, Defense or Hitpoints – you decide where they go.
What changes as you progress
New combat areas unlock based on the strongest enemy you have actually defeated. Not by level, and not by time. Eleven areas can be reached without membership, and two more in the Distant Lands open with Dawn+ membership.
Once you have reliable gear, bosses, Contracts and the PvP arena are waiting.
